Presenting, "Moiré Movers"
An interactive installation that visitors can rotate to make a moving illusion. 7-foot tall posts patterned with images reflecting history, commerce, and culture of Charlotte.
Moiré (meaning “watered” in French) is a large-scale interference pattern that can be produced when an opaque slatted pattern with transparent gaps is overlaid on another similar pattern. This visual phenomenon can commonly occur in textiles like watered silk and when photographing screens, causing wavy lines or a rippled effect in a photo.
